Team

The Foundation is run by people who have been doing this work for years, most of them alongside their profession or their studies.

01

Daniel Macovei

President

Daniel Macovei has led People and Deeds since its chapter as Asociația Oameni și Fapte and continues that mission today as President of the People and Deeds Foundation. For more than a decade, he has been involved in projects and initiatives serving communities — a commitment to helping others that he describes simply as “a family habit.”

Outside the Foundation, he is active in politics, where he advocates for laws and rules that protect democracy, human rights, people with disabilities and the environment. His political activity remains separate from the Foundation’s nonpartisan work.

One subject, however, appears in almost every conversation with Daniel: reading. To him, literature is not a luxury; it is one of the foundations of a healthy society. His message to younger and older generations alike is simple: read, read and keep reading.

Dr. Sebastian Popa

Co-Founder & Director of Project Development

Dr. Sebastian Popa is an academic at the University of Life Sciences in Timișoara and is passionate about the One Health concept — an approach that recognises human, animal and environmental health as deeply interconnected.

He is working on an initiative to establish a One Health research laboratory in Timișoara and contributes to Foundation programmes at the intersection of research, health, nutrition, agriculture and community development.

He is closely involved in Growing Healthy Futures, where One Health principles become practical action through healthier food, responsible agriculture, resilient communities and a healthier relationship between people and their environment.

03

Timotei Ioniță

Head of Volunteering

Timotei Ioniță represents a generation proving that there is no minimum age for choosing to contribute. An engineering student known for his seriousness and academic commitment, Timotei has volunteered since the age of 13.

After participating in numerous volunteering initiatives across Romania, he now leads the volunteering component of Foundation projects — from organising teams and preparing activities to delivering work directly in communities.

04

Andrei Junică

Co-Founder & Community Greenhouse Project Lead

Andrei Junică is a student with ambitions in engineering and a strong interest in animals, wildlife and rural life. He is also a committed footballer and distinguished himself as a leading scorer in his Hunedoara County competition in 2025.

Beyond football, his interest in nature, animals, healthy food and rural communities connects directly with the Foundation’s community greenhouse programme.

Andrei’s ambition is for Growing Healthy Futures to move beyond a local project and become a model that can eventually be replicated nationally and perhaps internationally. For him, healthy food, healthy bodies, physical activity and a healthy environment naturally belong together.
